Ooooooh what does that do?!

Well I gave notice. After 2.5 years with Nielsen and Associates it’s time to move on to greener pastures.

I accepted a new position with an internet startup in Orlando. The company is called PayPerPost and it’s all kinds of friggen awesome. I’m sure if you look around the net about us you’ll hear that we are evil and will ruin the blogging world, but the same was said about google. People are jealous.

It’s a Macintosh shop so there will be some adjustment there. And I will be coding in Ruby on Rails which I don’t know but will learn quickly. And it’s a paycut but that too is temporary. The upswing is “YAY! ORLANDO!” and “YAY! Don’t have to deal with a certain psychopathic asshole at my ex-job” and the money will come and all sorts of other perks. Also my co-workers are fucking awesome.

I am a bit panicked on how we are going to do this. Theres a big expense with the move and apartment start costs etc. Plus ugh…moving….if any of you fine folks can spare two arms for a day I would be greatly appreciative(I’ll have more details on the move shortly). So tomorrow I guess we will go look at some apartments.

Had a great visit by Jen and her daughter which explains why there’s been no post yesterday and I’ve been “unreachable”. Having her there made us (Mary and I) realize how bad we want a family. We want a kid of our own so bad it hurts.

I think it’s time to look into adoption…..

Ok, the title just sounds dirty….and painful :-/

Holy CRAP what a day. I’m exhausted. Had some wierd sugar shock thing going on and I was completely drained…like a discharged battery. Not sure what’s causing it but wow!

Things were nuts at work. I spent the day getting all kinds of shit caught up but it just seemed like I could never get on top of it all.

I’m dinking around with streaming video through flash. I’m in the middle of writing a library that would stream video’s on the fly to flv format in a flash player. This would allow a video to be availble to download or stream without having two copies of the source. So far it’s being a bit of a bitch but I’ll get it. FFMPEG libraries are so damned handy. Part of the problem I think is that I’m trying to do it in PHP, I should probably just bust it out into a PERL module but PERL sucks

Anyways, Jen will be here tomorrow so I don’t know if I will be available to blog, but I’ll try…even if its just a short note to say “YO!”

So in my quest that all of my portable electronics run linux, I got it going on my Nintendo DS…well…sorta….it’s not loading getty for some reason but I’ll get it yet!!!!

In other news…..double bladed lightsaber baby! Brian brought down the box for me last night…it’s a FINE addition to my office. I’ll post pics in a few days, but for 5 minutes I sat and lost myself in the hum and glow of 3 sith blades!

The really sick part is the government had NO case…NO evidence..and NOTHING to back any of thier claims. They now have the money, and won’t give it back and this guy is not guilty of anything. So Randy, Mary and I all went to see Snakes on a Plane on Friday night. It was pretty damned good. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

As a standalone movie it did quite well, much better than I had anticipated. I expected it to be like a cult type movie that was one of those types that was so bad it was good. Turns out it’s actually a pretty decent movie. Pretty sick, twisted, and creepy. I was quite surprised and happy. I knew I would love it.

We went over to my parents place last night and my efforts to turn them into hardcore gamers is almost complete. They saw M and my’s nintendo DS’s and decided they needed to have one. So I went with my dad to the mart of wal and bought two of them and a few games.

I realize I haven’t said much about the trip. It was a trip, we had a great time, and I’m glad I went. My heads sort of a blur about it all…2 weeks is a long time to be from home and I’m still somewhat tramautized by a few things that went on on the trip. I’ll get it together but it’s still to recent to “remenisce”, I’m still enjoying being back.

I’ll get the hang of this blogging thing eventually. I realize my life as “UBER EXCITING” as it is may not be much fun to read about. I’ll eventually start posting stories and stuff. I just want to get into the habit of writing…SOMETHING.

Ok I think I am going to actually post in this now. I have the inspiration to write for some reason and so I will start just putting stuff down here. Maybe chapters of the book I’m writing…maybe thoughts….but I plan to post at least once a day.

Hell I might even do a podcast who knows…..I’m fairly excited about this…you should be too
